iphone application profile

Profile: Your regular expenses captured

Budge It helps you focus on planning your budget not on logging your expenses. Here is where Profile comes in: it captures all the expenses you pay on a regular basis so that you do not have to worry about logging them again. Profile organizes these expenses for you and gives you all the tools you need to estimate them including an in-built calculator, currency converter and frequency controls.

Goals: Your next purchases planned

Goals are not your regular expenses nor your saving targets; they are items you want to purchase. Budge It will schedule these purchases for you while helping you stay on track with your saving. A Goal can be one of 3 types: Dated Goal, Priority Goal or Budged Goal. A Dated Goal is an item you have to purchase by a specific date you set, such as a gift. A Priority Goal is an item that you consider essential and should be purchased as soon as possible. A Budged Goal is an item that can be postponed until you have extra money; your next smartphone maybe?

iphone application month

Month Summary: Your progress summarized

Month Summary is an overview of your budget for a particular month. It presents you with projections for the amount you are saving, your total savings till date, your total money till date and the money you are spending on your goals that month. Month Summary also allows you to move back in time to check how you did on a past month, but more importantly, it allows you to move forward and check how your budget looks in a future month!

Accounts: Your money tracked

Accounts represent all the money you have and all the money you owe: they include the cash you have on you, all your bank accounts and all your credit cards. They help you track your money and allow Budge It to synchronize its projections with your actual money, (Removed part from here) and that's why Budge It expects you to update the amounts you have in these Accounts regularly. The cool thing is that you can update them as little as once per month and that would be enough for Budge It!

FAQ

  • Q: How does Budge It work?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • Budge It captures your income and regular expenses to understand how much of your money is usually left available every month. It then captures your saving target to understand how much of this available money should be going to saving each month and how much should be considered as extra money. Budge It then starts scheduling your goals to keep you on track with your saving target as much as possible. It applies the following rules: Dated Goals are allowed to use all the money available each month plus whatever you have saved till date if needed. Priority Goals are also allowed to use all the money available each month but they are not allowed to use the money you have already saved till date; this means Budge It will not be allocating any of the money you have already saved to Priority Goals. Budged Goals are only allowed to use any extra money left after saving; this means Budge It will make sure you are on target with your saving and only then allocate money to your Budged Goals.Whenever you fall behind your saving target on a certain month, Budge It will try to compensate for that and save more on the next months to come.

  • Q: What exactly is this $100 draw?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • As a way of giving back to the serious users who upgrade to Pro version and helping them achieve their goals, we are going to conduct regular draws and give away an increasing amount of prize money to random Pro users. As a start, we will be giving away $100 to one of the first 1,000 users who upgrade to Pro version. The prize amount will increase as the milestones get bigger! The best of all is that draws will always include all Pro users not just the newly upgraded, so upgrade now to be part of all draws to come!

  • Q: What do I get for upgrading to Pro Version?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • Upgrading to Pro version will remove the ads, remove the limit on the number of goals that can be scheduled, enable daily updates of currency rates, unlock "My Achievements" feature and include you in the draws for the chance to win prize money!

  • Q: What happens when I upgrade to Pro version and later change my phone?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • You can always restore your purchase of Budge It Pro version for free as long as you are using the same Apple account you purchased it with.

  • Q: How do I estimate my expenses?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • Budge It asks you to capture the expenses you pay on a regular basis. Although most of these expenses are very predictable, some are not and might vary slightly each month. With that in mind, Budge It is designed to work with good estimates of your average expenses and so there is no need to be exact. It also gives you the tools to make it easy for you to estimate these expenses: an in-built keyboard calculator allowing you to input basic math expressions, a currency converter allowing you to input each expense in its original currency and a frequency control allowing you to input the actual payment frequency for each expense.

  • Q: How can I make the best out of the 3 different types of goals?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • Remember that goals are not saving targets; your saving target is already calculated based on the monthly saving amount you chose. Instead, goals are the items you want to purchase while managing your saving. Use a Dated Goal to represent an item that you absolutely have to purchase by a specific known date, a Priority Goal to represent an item that is very essential where Budge It should divert your monthly saving towards purchasing this item ASAP, and a Budged Goal to represent an item that you might consider as a luxury and would only purchase when you are on track with your saving and have the extra money for it.

  • Q: Why can't I reorder goals as I wish?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • Budge It allows you to reorder goals to indicate priorities among your goals. However, only goals of the same type can be reordered. This is because different types of goals already have different scheduling priorities: Budged Goals have the highest priority as they have to be achieved by a certain date, Priority Goals have the next priority and Budged Goals have the lowest priority by their definition.

  • Q: When shall I update my accounts?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • You can update your accounts anytime you want to get an actual view on your money, but it is recommended that you do so at least once per month. This will help Budge It synchronize its projections with your actual money.

  • Q: Is my information private?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • All information entered in Budge It is absolutely private. We do not collect any of the information you enter except your email address if you choose to provide it when you upgrade to Pro version. Your email will be used to contact you in case you win!

  • Q: Why is the app called "Budge It"?

    budge it FAQ iphone
    • Whenever you plan to buy something, you use the app to schedule it and budge it till when it fits in your budget. Pun totally intended!
